Lost World Caverns

Open daily 9-5, Lewisburg, WV (1 hour drive). (Combine with Lewisburg and Greenbrier visit) 120 feet underground. One hour tour (1/2 mile trail w/ 350 steps). Bring a jacket – ALWAYS 52°. Photos Allowed. Admission $12.

Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine

3 miles from the hotel. Open 10-5. 2-2.5 hours to tour. Admission $22 – Seniors $16. Guided, 1500 feet underground tour by veteran miners. Bring a jacket – ALWAYS 58°

Thurmond, WV

During the early 1900’s, Thurmond was a classic coal boomtown and it’s banks were the richest in the state. 15 passenger trains came through daily with the depot serving 95,000 passengers a year. Now an undisturbed ghost town, Thurmond is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 30 minutes from the hotel.

Lewisburg, WV

One hour away. (Combine with the Greenbrier for a day trip). Population 3900. America’s Coolest Small Town – 2011. See the Old Stone Presbyterian Church built 1796 and in continuous use. Carnegie Hall – one of four in the world. The town is steeped in Civil War History.

Greenbrier Bunker Tour

(Combine with a Lewisburg and Greenbrier Day). Guided 90 minute walking tour. $39 + gratuity at your discretion. Reservations required. No cameras or cell phones – such items must be surrendered and secured in the Bunker Office during your tour. 25 stairsteps.

Grandview Overlook

20-25 minutes from the hotel. Toll-free driving route. No admission fee. At 1400 feet above the river, one can view seven miles of the New River.

Tamarack Marketplace

No admission fee. 0.3 miles from hotel. Experience the sights and sounds of Appalachia at the state’s premier artisan center. Textiles, jewelry, art, glass, pottery, woodwork and many other handcrafted items.
